Bob Cardwell is a managing principal who leads a team of consumer finance and fair banking consultants at Capco. With over 35 years of experience, he advises financial institutions on a wide variety of regulatory compliance issues and best practices for risk management. His specific compliance expertise lies in consumer financial services, payment systems, mortgage banking, TILA/RESPA reform, CRA compliance, anti-money laundering and consumer privacy. Since the CFPB’s inception and its singular focus on the risk of harm to consumers and small businesses, Bob has guided many institutions in strengthening and enhancing their approach to fair and responsible banking with a strong focus on complaint management, ethics, UDAAP, marketing practices, overdraft programs and add-on products. Bob holds a B.S degree in accounting with honors from Lehigh University and a J.D degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. He is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honorary business fraternity, a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Administrative Law, and a licensed attorney in California and Pennsylvania.
