The Latest on California’s Privacy Act


Privacy and data security have emerged as a bi-partisan issue, which was demonstrated by the swift passage of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) of 2018. While businesses are working diligently to comply with the CCPA given its January 1, 2020, effective date, additional reforms designed to protect consumers are on the horizon and efforts by the California Legislature and at the ballot box are sure to encourage other states to act and will prompt conversations at the federal level.
