Provident Bank Honored as Bank of the Year

Press release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Western Bankers Association (WBA), today announced that Provident Bank, headquartered in Riverside, Calif., was honored as the WBA’s Bank of the Year. Craig Blunden, chairman and CEO of the bank, accepted the award at the WBA’s annual conference held last week.

“We are very proud and humbled to be named the WBA’s bank of the year,” said Blunden. “Banks all across the state and nation have incredible impacts in the communities they do business in, and we are honored to be selected to receive this award for the work we do in our local communities.”

Provident Bank has been an active part of the communities it serves since its founding in 1956. Today, the bank has two established avenues for providing financial assistance to their local nonprofits: the Provident Savings Bank Charitable Foundation and the Provident Bank Community Partnership Program; which combined, have donated more than $1.1 million to local nonprofits.

Twice a year the Provident Savings Bank Charitable Foundation identifies local nonprofits that are known to make a difference in our communities and provides those organizations with a charitable contribution. Past recipients have been youth organizations, Habitat for Humanity and the American Heart Association. Provident Bank’s Community Partnership Program is based on their customers’ participation in a rewards program that allows the bank’s customers to choose the nonprofit to be awarded an annual charitable contribution from the bank.

“Our support is not just limited to financial contributions,” continued Blunden. “We also support Provident employees in their own community involvement. Our employees are very involved in their local communities, volunteering their time and energy to participate on the boards of organizations that serve the greater good of our community.”

“Provident Bank is to be commended for the wonderful work and support they provide in the community,” said Maurine Padden, interim president and CEO of the WBA. “We are delighted to recognize Craig and his entire team at the bank with this award. Supporting local organizations and making an impact in the community is what our member banks do each and every day, and Provident Bank is an excellent example of that dedication and commitment.”
