Kathy Moe is the Regional Director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) San Francisco Region. As a 35-year veteran, Moe is directly responsible for the safety and soundness of insured deposits, evaluation of asset and liability management, lending, investment and corporate governance practices of 350 financial institutions in 11 Western States, plus the Pacific U.S. Territories. Leading in a regulated environment subject to economic fluctuations, while navigating complex interagency relations, provides Moe with a unique skill-set. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to: real estate, commercial credit and investment markets, compliance and risk management, cyber security, anti-money laundering, information technology, vendor management, consumer protection, mergers and acquisitions, and de novo applications.
Mr. Sharp is the SVP Deputy Chief Risk Officer at Pacific Western Bank, a $40 billion commercial bank with 70+ branches in Central and Southern California, with a branch in Denver, CO and one branch in Raleigh, NC. Prior to the merger with Pacific Western Bank in April 2014, Mr. Sharp served in the positions of Chief Risk Officer and separately as the Chief Compliance Officer of CapitalSource Bank from its organization in July 2008. In his current role he is responsible for oversight of all Enterprise Risk Management activities, ESG, data governance, external credit review, model risk management, real estate appraisal review and regulatory exam management.
Shawn M. Turner is a partner in Holland & Knight’s Denver office, the co-chair of the firm’s Capital Markets Group, a member of the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group and the executive partner for the firm’s Denver office.
Mr. Turner primarily represents public and private companies in the financial services industry, with a particular emphasis on advising boards of directors and senior management with respect to risk management, corporate governance, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and regulatory matters. Mr. Turner has significant experience interacting with state and federal financial institutions and regulatory agencies, and with advising strategic buyers and targets in takeover strategies and defenses.
Mike is a Principal and the Director of the Virtual Risk Management group where he’s responsible for leading the strategic direction. He actively participates in many of the group’s client engagements including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), ESG, Virtual CRO, board training, and others for banks, credit unions, fintech firms, and professional service organizations. With over 25 years in the banking and technology industries, he has extensive knowledge in strategic planning, corporate governance, technology strategy, and fintech management issues. Mike also regularly presents strategy and ERM trends and techniques at conferences and for industry professionals.
