Steve Andrews is the president & CEO of the Western Bankers Association and manages the affairs and day to day operational aspects of the association and all its divisions. In his role as CEO he is one of the foremost advocates of the banking industry and the important role banks play in our communities and economy.
André G. Herrera is Chief Compliance Officer at Hypur, Inc., where he leads Hypur’s collaboration with financial institutions on compliance and regulatory issues. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President and CIO of a bank in California, where he was responsible for the implementation and administration of all banking technologies and proprietary systems necessary to run the financial institution.
Ryan is the CEO of DocFox, a digital tool which automates BSA for business account opening and ongoing due diligence for high risk and complex accounts. DocFox currently works with over 160 financial institutions to reduce manual effort through advanced document processing with document inspection, data capture and comparison of any document.
Laurel Sykes is the Executive Vice President, Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for American Riviera Bank. She holds the designation of Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager, with almost 30 years of experience in the banking industry. During her career she has implemented enterprise-wide risk management, compliance, fraud, anti-money laundering, vendor management and business continuity programs for banks ranging from $1 billion to $7 billion in assets. She currently oversees regulatory affairs and enterprise risk management for American Riviera Bank, and leads the Bank’s consumer compliance function and the anti-money laundering/financial crimes unit.
Jan Owen is a senior advisor in the Manatt Financial Services group, and is based in the Sacramento office.
Her practice includes a wide range of oversight work including accountancy, assets recovery, auditing, banking, benefits administration, budget preparation and financial reporting. With her deep understanding of regulatory issues, Jan provides innovative, practical and commonsense solutions. Her clients include major banks and consumer finanical institutions, fintech startups, cannabis owner and operators, and technology companies.
Richard S. Hartunian offers clients the benefit of his decades of experience as lead government counsel in high-profile, high-stakes criminal and civil disputes.
Rick defends clients against allegations of white collar crime, healthcare fraud, BSA/AML violations, and environmental and defense procurement fraud, and advises on cross-border security and trade issues.
Craig Miller leads Manatt Financial Services and focuses his practice on representing public and private corporations in a wide range of corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions, and public and private equity and debt securities offerings.
Anita Famili Sabine is a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office and leads the firm’s real estate transactions and finance practice and the cannabis and CBD practice. She represents owners, operators, lenders, developers, investors and others in a range of financing, development, leasing and investment-related transactions.
Chris Dick is a member of RSM’s Risk Consulting practice. He has over 15 years of experience providing consulting and internal audit services related to operations and regulatory compliance to a number of financial institutions and financial services clients; and serves as a firm designated subject matter expert in anti-money laundering (“AML”) and sanctions compliance.
Othel Rife is with the West Region of RSM. She has over fourteen years of Anti-Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act (AML/BSA) compliance experience. That experience includes an in-depth understanding of the regulatory requirements set forth in the FFIEC exam manual including program requirements, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, monitoring practices, and economic sanctions.
As President and Chief Operating Officer of Shield Compliance, Tony leads day-to-day operations and is the company’s principal product architect. Having served as a senior executive at a Washington State-based community bank for over 20 years, Tony has in-depth knowledge of the banking industry and the regulatory and compliance requirements for high-risk industries. Today he brings that knowledge to financial institutions serving and considering serving the legal cannabis industry.
Radhika personally has more than 29 years of experience in the banking industry, with an impressive background spanning all phases of compliance, operations, and risk management for leading financial institutions. Radhika has been responsible for helping several banking institutions successfully pass their regulatory examinations.
Jim has over thirty years of senior management experience in diverse business fields including high risk electronic banking, and specialty banking and FinTech compliance services.
